Government to Organise Yoga Sessions Across State on June 21

*State-Level Mass Yoga Session to Be Held in Ambikapur on 12th International Day of Yoga* *Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai to Attend as Chief Guest* *Statewide Programmes to Be Organised Under the Theme ‘Yoga for Healthy Ageing’* Raipur, June 20, 2026/ A state-level mass yoga session will be organised on June 21 at the PG College Ground in Ambikapur to mark the 12th International Day of Yoga. The programme will commence at 6:00 a.m., with Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai attending as the Chief Guest. Health and Family Welfare Minister Shri Shyam Bihari Jaiswal will chair the event. Chairman of the Chhattisgarh Yoga Commission, Shri Sanjay Agrawal, will attend as the Guest of Honour. The programme will also witness the participation of public representatives, office-bearers of various commissions and boards, government officials and employees, students, youth, women, and representatives of social and voluntary organisations. The theme for this year’s International Day of Yoga is “Yoga for Healthy Ageing.” The programme will be conducted in accordance with the guidelines issued by the Ministry of AYUSH, Government of India, and the Common Yoga Protocol. A large number of participants are expected to take part in the mass yoga session, promoting the message of adopting a healthy lifestyle through yoga. Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai described the International Day of Yoga as an important campaign for public health and awareness. He said that yoga is an invaluable part of India’s ancient knowledge tradition and is guiding people around the world towards a healthier, more balanced life. He noted that regular yoga practice not only strengthens physical health but also plays a vital role in achieving mental, emotional and spiritual well-being. The state government is continuously working to promote yoga among all sections of society and build a healthier Chhattisgarh. As part of these efforts, collective yoga sessions and awareness programmes will be organised across the state at educational institutions, government offices and public places on the occasion of the International Day of Yoga. During the programme, participants will practise various yoga postures, pranayama and meditation techniques as prescribed under the Common Yoga Protocol. Information on the physical, mental, and emotional benefits of yoga will also be shared, while yoga experts will provide guidance on its role in maintaining a healthy lifestyle.
