A shocking explosion in the forest area of Ratnagiri district in Maharashtra left a woman seriously injured and triggered panic after police recovered nearly 25 live crude bombs from the spot. The incident took place on Tuesday morning in Jambhari Phata village under the Watad police outpost area of Ratnagiri taluka.
According to reports, 45-year-old Reshma Pramod Surve had gone into the nearby forest to collect firewood for cooking, as she usually did every day. While searching through bushes and dry wood, she noticed a suspicious bundle lying on the ground. Unaware of the danger, she picked it up with her hands. Moments later, a powerful explosion took place.
The blast severely injured Reshma, especially her left hand. Her fingers were badly damaged in the explosion, and she suffered serious internal injuries. Villagers rushed to help her and immediately took her to Ratnagiri District Hospital. After examining her condition, doctors advised shifting her to Mumbai for advanced treatment and plastic surgery due to the seriousness of her injuries.
The incident created fear and tension in the entire region. During the investigation, police and bomb disposal squads searched the forest area and were stunned to discover around 20 to 25 live country-made bombs hidden nearby. Authorities quickly sealed the area and launched a detailed investigation. Senior police officials and bomb experts reached the location to examine the explosives and ensure public safety.
Initial police investigations suggest that the crude bombs may have been hidden by illegal hunters who use explosive traps to target wild boars and other animals in forest areas. However, officials are also investigating whether there could be any larger criminal conspiracy or anti-social activity linked to the explosives.
The peaceful Konkan region rarely witnesses such dangerous incidents, making this case especially alarming for local residents. Villagers are now worried about their safety and are demanding strict action against those responsible for storing explosives in public forest areas.
Police have intensified the investigation and are trying to identify the people behind the hidden bombs. Security agencies remain on high alert as authorities continue to search the surrounding forest area for additional explosives or clues connected to the case.
