Closed-Door Meeting Between Satheesan, Kharge and Venugopal During Delhi Visit
After ending the decade-long rule of the Left government in Kerala, newly appointed Chief Minister VD Satheesan made his first official visit to Delhi since taking office. The visit is being seen as politically significant, as Satheesan held several high-level meetings with senior Congress leaders to discuss the future direction of the new UDF government and important party matters. Satheesan arrived in Delhi late Friday night and received a warm welcome from Congress workers and supporters at Kerala House. Party workers gathered in large numbers to greet the new Chief Minister, celebrating the Congress-led UDF’s return to power in Kerala after 10 years. During his Delhi visit, Satheesan met several top Congress leaders, including Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi, and Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge. According to party sources, the Chief Minister expressed gratitude to the Congress high command for supporting the UDF campaign during the Kerala Assembly elections, which ultimately helped the alliance secure a major victory over the Left Democratic Front (LDF). The meetings were not just ceremonial. Important discussions reportedly took place regarding the functioning of the newly formed Kerala government and its future policy decisions. Satheesan also held closed-door meetings with AICC General Secretary KC Venugopal and Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra. These conversations are believed to have focused on strengthening the party organization in Kerala and ensuring smooth coordination between the state government and the central leadership. Another key issue discussed during the visit was the appointment of a new Kerala Congress president. With the party preparing for future political challenges, the leadership is considering important organizational changes in the state unit. Sources suggest that the Congress high command and Satheesan exchanged views on who could take charge of the party in Kerala in the coming months. Meanwhile, reports also indicate that Chief Minister Satheesan may meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi next week. Although no official confirmation has been issued yet, the possible meeting is being viewed as a courtesy visit and an opportunity to discuss Kerala-related development matters with the central government. Satheesan’s Delhi tour highlights the Congress leadership’s efforts to strengthen coordination with the new Kerala government while preparing the party for upcoming political battles at both the state and national levels.
